TRIP DETAILS

Burano is certainly the most picturesque of the islands of the Lagoon thanks to the brightly coloured houses outside which, even today, the fishermen tidy up their fishing nets and the women embroider their famous lace.
Torcello is the most famous of the islands in the Upper Lagoon. When the Huns, led by Attila, invaded Altino in the 5th century, its inhabitants took refuge here; then, once the danger had passed, they returned to the city.

Murano is the largest of the islands in the Lagoon. Founded by fugitives from Altino, at the time of the Longobard invasions the population of Oderzo also took refuge here. The island's fame is still linked to the famous art of glassmaking, and during a visit to the island a stop at the furnaces is a must, where a master glassmaker will demonstrate how glass is made (always explained), both blown and shaped. Don't miss the glass museum and the Church of S.S. Maria and Donato, a masterpiece of Venetian-Byzantine art.

Excursion by boat with guide on board, along the Gardens, the island of S. Elena and the Lido, famous for its beaches and the Film Festival, we will reach the island of Murano, famous for its blown glass. The stop to visit a glassworks and the island will take approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. Second stop on the island of Burano - island of fishermen, famous for its lace and colourful houses. The stop will be about 2 hours. Third and last island Torcello, centre of the first civilisation in the estuary. Interesting Byzantine mosaic inside the cathedral. Stop will be about 1 hour. Return to Punta Sabbioni at about 17:15, end of excursion.
